HART is HAN University's motorsport team, competing in the Dutch Rally Championship with a Renault Clio 3 RS. I joined in November 2024 as technical lead for all onboard electronics.
Chief Interior & Electronics
Technical Lead
- Owned the car's entire electrical system and wiring loom
- Designed, built, and validated the onboard telemetry system
- Configured and calibrated the MaxxECU: wiring, setup, channel mapping
- R&D work still fitted and running on the car after my tenure
Wiring Loom
Designed and built the interior wiring loom from scratch. Responsible for routing, termination, and validation of all onboard harnesses including sensor feeds, PDM outputs, and ECU connections.

MaxxECU Configuration
Configured and calibrated the MaxxECU on the Clio 3 RS. Not just reading data, but hands-on wiring, sensor assignment, and calibration of channels including RPM, throttle, MAP, lambda, ignition, knock detection, coolant temp, oil pressure/temp, fuel pressure/duty, cam position, and PDM states.

Telemetry System
Built a modular data acquisition system running on the car during championship events. Firmware collects and synchronises ECU data over CAN with GPS position and IMU readings. Event-triggered logging with fault detection for sensor dropouts.

HART Log Visualiser
Web dashboard built to analyse post-session data from the car. Ingests MaxxECU log files and GPS data, visualises 30+ channels including RPM, throttle, MAP, lambda, knock, oil temp/pressure, cam position, and GPS overlay for spatial context.

Open DashboardThe telemetry system and wiring R&D I completed is still fitted to the car. It wasn't a student prototype. It ran under race conditions in the Dutch Rally Championship and stayed on after I left the team.
